Secretary of Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee Le Quang Tung and Cuban Minister of Health Jose Angel Portal Miranda on September 26 exchanged an agreement to strengthen their cooperation in healthcare.
Under the agreement, both sides will focus on exchanging medical experts and academic knowledge, fostering collaboration in education and professional exchanges, and enhancing herb cultivation and production.
This agreement is part of the joint statement made on September 27, aimed at strengthening the traditional solidarity, special friendship, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba.

This event is one of the serial activities of Secretary Tung’s activities during his participation in the delegation led by General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse, who visited the United States and paid a State visit to the Republic of Cuba last week.
During the visit, Secretary Tung, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba and met the diplomats, community representatives, and Vietnamese expatriates living in Cuba.
The Secretary also visited the Mariel Special Economic Zone, laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh and the monument of Cuban national hero José Martí, and participated in a people-to-people and youth friendship meeting in Cuba.
Additionally, he attended meetings with Esteban Lazo Hernandez, President of the Cuban National Assembly of People’s Power, and Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of Cuba.
He also took part in the official welcoming ceremony and discussions between General Secretary and State President To Lam and Cuban First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, and attended the ceremony awarding the José Martí Order to General Secretary and State President To Lam.
Activities in the US
In New York City, United States, Secretary Tung participated in a seminar focused on enhancing Vietnam-US cooperation in the development of the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) industries.

He also attended the celebration of the one-year anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the upcoming 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the US.
The Secretary of Quang Tri Province also took part in the keynote policy address delivered by General Secretary and State President To Lam at Columbia University, one of the most prestigious universities and academic research centers in the United States.
Additionally, he joined a business roundtable organized by the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), the US Chamber of Commerce (USCC), and the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), in collaboration with Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnamese Embassy in the US.
Secretary Tung also attended a meeting with representatives of Vietnam’s agencies in the United States. On the sidelines of these events, he had discussions with several businesses, investors, and US partners.
