A ceremony to repatriate 12 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers losing their lives in Laos was held at Lao Bao – Densavan International Border Gate on May 21.
High-ranking officials of Lao’s army, Lao province of Savannakhet, Vietnam’s Ministry of Defense, Quang Tri province, and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Savannakhet attended the event in addition to many officials and army officers.
The sets of remains were found during the dry season 2023-2024 in Savannakhet Province, Laos by the Martyr Gathering Team 584 of Quang Tri’s Military Command thanks to the support of local authorities and people.
At the ceremony, political commissars of Quang Tri and Savannakhet honored the sacrifice for the international missions of the Vietnamese martyrs and showed gratitude towards those who lost their lives for the independence, freedom, and happiness of the people of both countries.
The remains were buried at the National Martyr Cemetery Road No.9 in Quang Tri on May 22.
