A delegation of Quang Tri Province on March 20 visited the Vietnamese general consulates to meet Vietnamese officials, residents and enterprise executives in Laos’ Savannakhet Province and Champasak Province’s Pakse City.
At the meetings, the delegation was provided brief reports on the socio-economic developments in the provinces, and activities organized recently by the two general consulates to promote the great friendship between Vietnam and Laos.

According to the Consulate General of Vietnam in Savannakhet Province Dang Thi Hai Tam, Vietnam currently has an Embassy in Vientiane, and three General Consulates in the North, Middle, and South of Laos.
She said that the General Consulate in Savannakhet is in charge of the consular duties in Bolikhamsai, Khammouane and Savannakhet provinces.
At the meetings, the Quang Tri Provincial Party Secretary cum Head of the Quang Tri Provincial National Assembly delegation Le Quang Tung briefed on the socio-economic growth and future development plans in Quang Tri, and introduced future key projects in the province.
He also acknowledged and highly appreciated the interest and support of the Vietnam General Consulate in Savannakhet and Pakse to connect Quang Tri and Lao localities and promote their cooperation and friendship.

Tung said that Quang Tri is looking forward to strengthening the relations with Lao localities in the border area, improving the regulatory framework, and initiating new projects to promote cross-border trade and people-to-people exchange.
“We hope to continue receiving companionship, active support, and information updates from the Vietnamese general consulates. We hope the Vietnamese agencies in Laos will advise the province to remove the bottlenecks in fulfilling our commitments made to Lao partners,” Tung said.
To the Vietnamese people and enterprises in Savannakhet Province, the provincial Party Secretary expected them to comply with local laws, preserve Vietnam’s traditional culture and language, extend their support for each other, and accompany Quang Tri Province to better implement socio-economic development projects.
