The Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command last week prosecuted a case on illegal emigration after a woman and three men had been caught leaving Vietnam without permission.
According to the Department of Drug and Crime Prevention, under the Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard Command, and the Lao Bao International Border Guard Station, the four individuals included Ha Thi Huong, a 29-year-old female resident of Thanh Van Commune in Bac Kan Province’s Cho Moi District, and Chen Wei Jie (28), Weng Kai Bing (27), and Zou Jing Zhao (26), residing in Fujian, China.
Through interrogation, Ha Thi Huong and the three Chinese men admitted that they were arranged by brokers to enter and exit Vietnam’s territory before moving to Myanmar and Laos for work without valid passports.

The four individuals were taken to the border area by three Vietnamese men in a 7-seat car from Cam Lo and Dong Ha districts. At the appointed location, they were transported on motorbikes to the area close to the border and were guided to follow the pathway to enter Laos’ territory.
The investigation unit then identified three men behind the illegal emigration, including Truong The Sy (36 years old), Truong Quang Huy (26), and Le Van Quy (29), residing in Cam Nghia Commune of Cam Lo District.
Sy admitted that he was hired by an ethnic man to transport four people from Cam Lo and Dong Ha districts to Huong Hoa District’s Lao Bao Town for VND1.8 million (US$72.13) and drugs for personal use. To ensure the transportation process went smoothly, Sy asked for Huy and Quy’s help.
The Lao Bao International Border Guard Station has transferred files, subjects, and evidence to the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Public Security for further investigation.
