Quang Tri students win Fourth Prize at the 2025 ISEF international science and engineering fair

Two 12th-grade students from Quang Tri Town High School, Cao Trung Quan and Le Minh Hieu, won Fourth Prize at the 2025 International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) with their project on an autonomous wheelchair for patients with muscular atrophy. The event was held in Columbus, Ohio, on May 16 .

The project develops a wheelchair with autonomous navigation using a 2D map in a simulated environment. It allows users to move to desired locations via eye-tracking and includes a communication system through Telegram for both short- and long-distance interaction in Vietnamese and English.

In March 2025, the project won First Prize at the National Science and Engineering Fair in Ho Chi Minh City. It was later selected by the Ministry of Education and Training as one of nine projects representing Vietnam at the international level. Their story was featured in Quang Tri Newspaper on April 5, 2025, in an article titled “Double Joy.”

At ISEF 2025, the Vietnamese delegation won two Second Prizes, one Third Prize, and three Fourth Prizes. This is the second time Quang Tri Town High School has had a project selected for the international fair and awarded, highlighting the school’s strong academic foundation and its students’ creativity.
