With an amount of US$25,000, the “Securing Water, Enhancing Lives in Hai Lang District” project was funded by ADM Cares, ADM’s corporate social investment program, and implemented by World Vision International in Viet Nam in collaboration with the Hai Lang District People’s Committee and local communes.

After more than three months of implementation, the project has enabled local authorities to invest in upgrading and constructing five irrigation canal systems with a total length of one km and one electric pumping station in several rice field areas across three communes: Hai Truong, Hai Dinh, and Hai Hung.

The project ensures a reliable water supply for more than 272 hectares of rice farmland while lowering dredging and reducing annual contributions from residents. Additionally, it supports the development of high-quality rice production models, such as VietGAP and organic rice.

The project has significantly improved irrigation systems in Hai Lang’s target communes, enhancing agricultural productivity and increasing household income for vulnerable families.

In addition to its technical and economic benefits, the project has fostered sustainable social impact by strengthening the management capacity of commune project management units, encouraging community engagement, and advancing goals for advanced rural development and sustainable poverty reduction.

Given the role of bettering irrigation systems and boosting agricultural productivity, the project not only improves household incomes but also lays the groundwork for long-term growth. This progress enables families to better support their children’s access to nutritious food, education, and healthcare.

It also contributes to improving child welfare and creating safer, disaster-resilient, and climate-adaptive communities.
