Quang tri seeks Irish funding for disaster-resilient school renovation

Quang Tri’s Department of Foreign Affairs on May 12 sent an official letter to the Embassy of Ireland in Vietnam, expressing gratitude for its continued support of the project “Upgrading Schools for Disaster Preparedness in Quang Tri”.

Over the past decade, the Irish Embassy has supported the repair and renovation of 43 schools in disaster-prone areas of the province, where infrastructure had severely deteriorated. The support has received widespread praise from local authorities, educators, and community members for its tangible impact, improving both the quality of education and the safety of students and teachers during storm seasons.

Quang tri seeks Irish funding for disaster-resilient school renovationBuilding on the success of earlier initiatives, the Department of Foreign Affairs has proposed that the Irish Embassy in Vietnam provide an additional VND 2.05 billion ($87,000) to support the 2025 phase of the disaster-resilient school improvement project in Quang Tri.

Before submitting the proposal, the department conducted field assessments and identified four schools in urgent need of renovation for the Embassy’s consideration: Gio Viet Primary and Secondary School (Gio Linh District); Hai Que and Hai Ba Primary and Secondary Schools (Hai Lang District); and Thanh Co Secondary School (Quang Tri Town).
