A meeting was held last Friday to discuss the center’s development for protecting and rehabilitating people with disabilities in the central coastal province of Quang Tri.
At the meeting, the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) were reported with an overall development plan for the center.

The two sides also talked about the solutions that hastened the center project’s implementation and agreed on the budget for the center’s construction.Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Hoang Nam acknowledged the efforts of the consultant to finalize the project’s master plan following previous feedback. He said that the committee accepted the ideas made by the consultant.He asked the Department of Construction to guide project contractors through Vietnam’s building regulations and come up with the final version of the project design.The Department of Health was requested to co-work with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to set up an organizational structure for the center.The project contractors and local agencies must also shorten the procurement and manpower training procedures to complete the project as planned, Vice Chairman Nam said.He also expected KOICA and Medipeace, the two partners of the province in this project, to fund the center’s operations early after the construction finishes to ensure its sustainability.The project will cost a total of US$12.7 million. Its development is set to finish in 2025.
