Ambassador Kees van Baar expressed his honor to be welcomed by leaders of Quang Tri Province and highly praised the efforts of the local residents in overcoming difficulties to improve their lives, supported by the Medical Committee Netherlands – Vietnam (MCNV).

The Ambassador expressed the hope that in the future, the provincial government of Quang Tri will continue to show interest and create favorable conditions for MCNV’s activities in the province.

Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Hung spoke highly of the excellent cooperative relationship between Vietnam and the Netherlands in general, and specifically between Quang Tri and the Netherlands over the past 50 years.

He emphasized the significant impact of non-governmental organizations from the Netherlands in implementing humanitarian programs and projects within the province.

Chairman Vo Van Hung provided the delegation with an overview of the achieved results and the potential for socio-economic development in Quang Tri. He expressed the desire for the Vietnamese government and Dutch partners to continue supporting the province in developing infrastructure in poor, remote areas, schools, healthcare facilities, building climate-resilient smart agricultural models, providing workforce training, receiving interns and students from Quang Tri, and enhancing disaster resilience and climate change adaptation.

MCNV’s programs have brought about significant changes in various areas, including healthcare, social integration, community livelihood development, and sustainable forest management to address climate change for the people of Quang Tri.

Therefore, the request was made for the Vietnamese government and Dutch partners to support MCNV in fundraising efforts in the coming time to secure resources for the implementation of projects related to sustainable forest management linked to the livelihood development of ethnic minorities. The province also invited attention and support to connect with Dutch businesses and investors to explore investment opportunities in Quang Tri that align with mutual interests and conditions, with a focus on areas such as infrastructure construction, seaports, maritime economy, clean energy, tourism, services, aquaculture, coffee, and rubber.

Continued support and facilitation for the collaboration between the PUM Organization and the Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center of the province were emphasized, especially in assisting small and medium-sized enterprises. The province called on Dutch investors to conduct research and survey investment projects in agriculture and food processing in Quang Tri, expanding markets through Laos and Thailand via the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC).

The province also sought continued connections with Nijmegen province or suggested introducing a locality with similar interests to establish a cooperative relationship for mutual development.
