The Department of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with Plan International Vietnam, organized the “Conference to Review the Plan Project for Fiscal Year 2025 and Orientation for Fiscal Year 2026” on June 25-26.
In recent times, Plan International Vietnam has closely collaborated with the Department of Foreign Affairs and relevant departments, sectors, and localities to implement humanitarian activities across various areas such as promoting the rights and gender equality of girls, preventing gender-based violence, building life and vocational skills for girls, and enhancing disaster prevention and response capacity. All activities have remained focused on the people and beneficiaries through a scientific and transparent project approach.

In 2025, Plan International Vietnam implemented programs and projects aimed at realizing the right to live in a green and sustainable future for girls, young women, and youth in 15 communes in Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts. These include building communities, schools, and empowering women to be ready for a sustainable future and move forward in the communes of Ba Tang, Huong Loc, and Lia (Huong Hoa District) and Dakrong, Ta Long, and Ta Rut (Dakrong District); constructing the Ban 1 sub-school of Thuan Primary School in Thuan Commune, Huong Hoa District; enhancing climate change resilience; and empowering ethnic minority girls. The total funding exceeded $1,100,000.
At the conference, delegates participated in discussions and evaluations of the results of the Plan Project for Fiscal Year 2025; shared exemplary projects and successful models from project areas to apply in the coming years; updated the Plan Program for Fiscal Year 2026; and discussed challenges and implementation solutions in the near future as Quang Tri Province begins to operate under a two-tier government system and undergo administrative unit mergers.

Recognizing the positive and effective contributions of Plan International in recent times, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Thai Huu Lieu proposed that in the new phase—during the official merger and consolidation into the new Quang Tri Province—the implementation of programs and projects should continue to be maintained and further developed. This will make an important contribution to helping Quang Tri achieve its socio-economic development goals, improve all aspects of people’s lives, and especially support disadvantaged children and youth in the project areas.
According to information from Plan International Vietnam – Quang Tri Office, in 2024, with a budget of approximately $1,330,000, Plan International Vietnam – Quang Tri Office has partnered with provincial departments, agencies, units, district-level offices, and communities to implement four core programs. Specifically, these include: the gender-responsive parenting support program; the gender-responsive child protection program; the life skills, employment opportunities, and entrepreneurship program for adolescents and youth; and the disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation program, along with specialized projects to support children and local residents in Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts.
It is reported that in the fiscal year 2023 (from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023), through provincial, district, and commune-level partners, Plan International Vietnam provided support totaling over $1,325,000 in project-area communes in Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts. The support focused on the four aforementioned core programs and delivered practical and effective results.
