Quang Tri, Champasak to level up cooperative relations

Deputy Governor of Laos’ Champasak Province Somboun Heungvongsa on January 29 called for further cooperation with Vietnam’s central coastal Quang Tri Province.

The two provinces should further tighten their solidarity and carry out more cooperative activities in the near future, he told a meeting with Quang Tri provincial authorities.

The Lao official affirmed that the signing of the cooperation agreement between the two localities and their joint efforts are the drivers to contributing to an uplifting stage of development.

On behalf of the government of Champasak Province, Deputy Governor Somboun sent his invitation to the authorities of Quang Tri Province to visit Champasak on the occasion of celebrating the Tourism Year 2024.

At the meeting, the Lao official expressed joy when visiting Quang Tri during the Vietnamese traditional Tet holiday, or the Lunar New Year in Vietnamese culture.

On the occasion of the Vietnamese festival, Deputy Governor Somboun wished the officials and people of Quang Tri Province a happy, warm and prosperous Tet.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee Hoang Nam thanked Champasak Deputy Governor for his concerns and New Year wishes.

He said that Tet is an important event and a beautiful tradition for Vietnamese people.

“It’s a privilege to meet and work with the delegation of Champasak Province on the occasion of the Vietnamese Tet holiday,” Nam said.

Addressing 2023 as a difficult, challenging time, the vice chairman said that the government and people of Quang Tri have overcome all difficulties with great efforts to attain remarkable socio-economic growth achievements.

He hoped that Quang Tri and Champasak would continue to tighten their good cooperation and have more activities in implementing the cooperative agreement for mutual development in 2024.

Vice chairman Nam also sent his best wishes to the authorities and people of Champasak Province.

He said that Quang Tri looks forward to welcoming friends from Champasak to visit and experience the Vietnamese traditional Tet.
