At the meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in Seoul, Vice Chairman Hoang Nam reported to the Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tung the key results regarding foreign affairs, foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction, official development assistance (ODA), and non-governmental organization (NGO) support from the province in its cooperation with South Korean partners. He also discussed future directions and needs for enhancing cooperation with South Korean partners that align with the potential and strengths of the local area.

Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tung highly appreciated the working program, appropriate partner meetings, and the suggestions proposed by the delegation. He reaffirmed its readiness to bridge, accompany, and support the province in boosting connections with Korean localities that share similarities in history and culture with Quang Tri, promoting economic and trade relations with Korean partners and businesses, and facilitating local exchanges and people-to-people interactions.

The Quang Tri delegation also visited and worked with Vice Governor of the special self-governing province of Gangwon Kim Myung-Sun and representatives from the provincial authorities.

Gangwon is a large province with a population of over 1.52 million people (2.5 times higher than that of Quang Tri), and an average GDP per capita of over $24,200 per year (nine times that of Quang Tri). The province has seven cities and eleven districts, known for its agricultural products, particularly potatoes, fish, and squid. Its mineral resources include iron, coal, fluorite, limestone, and tungsten. Gangwon has great potential for tourism and industrial development, with convenient transportation connections within the region and the world.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Hoang Nam emphasized that it was their first visit to Gangwon Province, and the delegation was especially impressed by the culturally rich and hospitable city of Chuncheon, which is vibrant and dynamic, deserving to be one of the leading political, economic, and cultural centers of Gangwon.

Based on the historical and cultural similarities between the two provinces, Quang Tri hopes to strengthen connections and promote cooperation in various fields with Gangwon province in the near future.

Vice Governor Kim Myung-Sun highly valued the visit made by the Quang Tri provincial working delegation to Gangwon. He acknowledged the information and cooperation needs proposed by Quang Tri Province. He assigned relevant agencies of Gangwon Province to study and promote cooperation in areas that align with both sides' potential, strengths, and cultural similarities in the coming times.

He gladly accepted the invitation of the leadership of Quang Tri Province and will visit Quang Tri at a suitable time.
