Accordingly, the Arieu Piing Festival of the Ta Oi (Pa Ko) ethnic group in Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.
The Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism urges chairpersons of district people’s committees at all levels where intangible cultural heritage is included in the National Intangible Heritage List, within the scope of their duties and powers, to carry out State management according to the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage.
Arieu Ping is also known as the “grave worshiping ceremony” or “reburial ceremony.” It is the largest festival imbued with unique features of the Ta Oi (Pa Ko) ethnic group, depicting people’s respect and remembrance of those who have died.
The festival aims to strengthen the spirit of solidarity and goodwill within the Ta Oi people. Thus, the festival revival is a great desire of locals.
In early 2023, the provincial People’s Committee proposed to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to include the Arieu Piing Festival in the National Intangible Cultural Heritages list.
