Since April 29, a flock of hundreds of cranes has been spotted roosting in Huynh Cong Dong Village, Trung Nam Commune, Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province.
Local residents report that, due to the cranes being wild and difficult to approach, the exact species has yet to be identified. From observations, the birds appear light gray with a mix of white and black feathers, and each weighs approximately one kilogram.
During the day, the cranes forage in the fields of Huynh Cong Dong Village, while at night, they return to a nearby forest to sleep.
This is the first time a large flock of cranes has appeared in Trung Nam Commune and stayed for an extended period. In response, the People’s Committee of Trung Nam Commune has quickly initiated measures to monitor and protect the birds, ensuring they are not harmed by hunting, trapping, shooting, or disturbances.
