Quang Tri, thanks to its abundant natural resources like wind and sunlight, has emerged as a pioneer in the development of renewable energy and holds substantial potential to fulfill its ambition of becoming the clean energy hub of central Vietnam.

Currently, Quang Tri Province has 31 approved wind power projects with a total capacity of nearly 1,180 MW; three solar power projects with a combined capacity of approximately 150 MWp; one coal-fired power plant project capacity of 1,320 MW; two gas power projects with a total capacity of 1,840 MW; and 18 hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 260.5 MW.
To date, the ones put into commercial operation include 20 wind power projects with a total capacity of 742.2 MW, three solar power projects with capacity of 119.6 MW, 11 hydropower oens with a combined capacity of 167.5 MW, and rooftop solar systems with a total capacity of over 150.7 MW.
In addition, Quang Tri is implementing several key power projects, including the B&T Wind Power Farm Cluster, with an installed capacity of 252 MW and a total investment of VND 8.1 trillion (US$310 million). It is now in commercial operation, generating an average of 550–560 million kWh annually.
Meanwhile, the 49.5-MWp Dohwa-Le Thuy Solar Power Project, invested by Dohwa Green Energy Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Dohwa Engineering Group – South Korea), with a total investment of VND 1.04 trillion ($38.3 million) generates 59–61 million kWh annually.
Furthermore, Quang Tri has proposed that the prime minister consider and approve an additional 1,500–2,000 MW of onshore wind power and 2,600–4,000 MW of offshore wind power.
The province also aims to develop other gas-based industrial facilities in the Dong Nam Quang Tri Economic Zone, along with green hydrogen and green ammonia projects powered by renewable energy.
