The project aims to provide psychological support for people with disabilities and improve their quality of life
The Quang Tri Department of Health, in partnership with the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), on December 6 unveiled the project “Supporting People with Disabilities in Quang Tri to Live Independently and Integrate into Society.”
Funded by Green Cross Switzerland through ACDC, the project is set to run from 2024 to 2027 in the districts of Trieu Phong, Gio Linh, and Vinh Linh, with a total budget exceeding VND5.6 billion (approximately US$230,850).

The initiative aims to improve health, foster independent living, and promote social inclusion for people with disabilities. Key objectives include enhancing rehabilitation services at district health centers, providing prosthetics and assistive devices, delivering psychological support, and encouraging self-reliance. Main activities focus on training healthcare professionals in rehabilitation techniques, conducting functional assessments, implementing customized interventions, and distributing assistive tools.
A central aspect of the project is the promotion of independent living, achieved through assessments of individual capabilities, home visits, peer counseling, and Training of Trainers (TOT) programs. Psychological support is integral, encompassing the identification of local services, staff training on recognizing psychological disorders, and providing evaluations and counseling for people with disabilities and their families.
By addressing critical needs, this initiative aims to create a more inclusive community where people with disabilities can thrive, integrate, and affirm their inherent value.
