The first ridley sea turtle was released on July 25, while the second one on July 26. The two were caught in the nets of local fishermen while fishing on the sea.

Truong Huu Thu, a Con Co Island MPA member, said that as one of five species of sea turtles on the list of endangered and rare wild aquatic animals, olive ridley sea turtles need to be protected.

“Con Co Island MPA has built a network of volunteers to protect sea turtles in coastal localities and organizes training to raise awareness of fishermen on sea turtle conservation,” Thu said.
