A delegation of high-ranking officials from Savannakhet Province of Laos today [January 28] came to Quang Tri to send wishes on the occasion of the upcoming Tet holiday or the Lunar New Year, the most significant holiday of Vietnamese people.
Secretary of the Savannakhet Provincial Party Committee and Governor of the province Bounchom Oubonpaserth led the delegation on the visit to Quang Tri hosted by Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyen Dang Quang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Hoang Nam, and Commander of the Provincial Military Headquarters Nguyen Huu Dan.
On behalf of Savannakhet’s delegation, Bounchom Oubonpaserth delivered his best wishes to Quang Tri’s leadership and people on the Tet holiday or the year of the Dragon 2024.
He took this occasion to show gratitude to Quang Tri’s cooperation and support in different fields, especially security in border areas between the two provinces, defense, healthcare, education, economic growth, new-style rural development, and manpower training for Savannakhet.
He expected that Quang Tri would extend its assistance in education, healthcare, and favorable conditions for Lao people along the borderline with the Vietnamese province for a better life.
Nguyen Dang Quang, on behalf of Quang Tri’s leaders, thanked Savannakhet for its close attachment and affection for the province over the past time.
The two sides briefed their socioeconomic situation. For Quang Tri, it focused on supporting locals and businesses, creating favorable conditions for investors, and implementing key projects in 2023. During the year, the province submitted to the prime minister the Quang Tri’s Planning for 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050. It fulfilled 15 out of 18 goals set for socio-economic development for 2023 while launching various programs to ensure social welfare and better living standards for residents, especially for the Tet holiday.
Quang said Quang Tri will promote foreign affairs this year, including tightened cooperation with Lao armed forces against transborder crime, smuggling, and drug trafficking to maintain border security. Meanwhile, they will continue supporting citizenship for border residents and training officials for Savannakhet to tighten the relations between the two provinces.
