At a meeting held in Quang Tri’s Dong Ha City, the police of localities reviewed the 2022-2023 and inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the 2023-2024 period.
Colonel Nguyen Duc Hai, Director of the Quang Tri Department of Public Security and his counterparts from the three provinces of Slavan, Savannakhet, and Champasak attended the event.
In 2022-2023, the police of four Vietnamese and Lao provinces held regular meetings to update the situation of both sides and training courses to exchange information and experiences in public security and criminal prevention and control in the localities and the border areas in particular.
They cooperated to prevent illegal missionary activities in border areas and launch investigations against drugs, unlawful immigration, robbery, and transport of banned substances and counterfeit goods, among others. The two sides also sought measures to facilitate the transport of coal from Laos to Vietnam.
Thanks to the cooperation over the past years, the next partnership would focus on strengthening border security and informing each other of the latest news related to crime and illegal activities.
In addition, they would promote the dissemination of legal enforcement in border regions while providing them with more policies in each country to ensure the safety of border zones and facilitate the socio-economic development of both sides.
