Singapore looks forward to extending support for Quang Tri Province in talent training and enhancing student exchanges between Singapore and the province through friendly programs.
The comment was made by Ian Tan, Deputy Chief of Mission and Counsellor at the Singaporean Embassy in Vietnam, during a conference with Vo Van Hung, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, on December 15.
Ian said that Singapore has assisted Vietnam in training more than 21,000 government officials via cooperative programs, including ones held at the Vietnam-Singapore Training Center in Hanoi.
The Singaporean official expected to welcome government agents from Quang Tri Province to partake in the training programs at the center in the near future, he said.

Singapore is the second biggest foreign investor in Vietnam, Ian added. He hoped that the Singaporean companies would be interested in investing in Quang Tri Province after they received preferential policies and conditions from provincial and local authorities.
In his part, Quang Tri provincial chairman Vo Van Hung briefly introduced the province’s characteristics, traits, and advantages.
He said that the province always considers Singaporean investors as top partners and that their operations will be the key to local projects.
Hung said the inauguration of the Quang Tri Industrial Park in Hai Lang District on the same day is a chance for the province to draw private capital inflows soon, including Singaporean investors.
The chairman expected that Singaporean projects in the province would focus on green energy development and organic agriculture.
He added that Quang Tri Province wants to receive support in workforce training and cultural preservation for ethnic minority peoples.
Ian’s visit to Quang Tri Province aims to pave the way for a business and investment summit, which draws the attention of Singaporean investors, Hung said.
