Quang Tri receives delegates from Cuban Workers’ Center

This afternoon, March 6, a high-ranking delegation from the Center of Cuban Workers (CTC), led by Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, visited and worked in Quang Tri Province.

At the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council Nguyen Dang Quang expressed his pleasure in welcoming the Cuban delegation to Quang Tri.

He emphasized that not only the Vietnamese people but also the people of Quang Tri always remember the special affection that the Communist Party and the people of Cuba have shown for Quang Tri during the struggle for independence. The famous words of leader Fidel Castro, “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its blood,” remain deeply engraved in the hearts of the people of Quang Tri, inspiring the Party, government, and citizens to build their homeland, develop the country, and work together for peace.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council affirmed that Quang Tri is ready to support Cuba to the best of its ability and will continue to strengthen the solidarity between the two nations in general and between Quang Tri and Cuban localities in particular.

On this occasion, Quang conveyed the gratitude of the Party, government, and people of Quang Tri to the Party, State, and people of Cuba. He also expressed hope that Cuba would soon overcome its difficulties and build a more prosperous nation. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Vietnam, Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, expressed admiration for the resilience of the Party and people of Quang Tri in particular and Vietnam as a whole in their struggle for independence and their efforts in rebuilding the country.

He also extended his appreciation for the valuable material and spiritual support that the people of Quang Tri have provided to Cuba. Cuba highly values Quang Tri’s decision to name Fidel Park in Dong Ha City, considering it a testament to the province’s affection for Cuba and leader Fidel Castro. On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, this relationship has entered a new phase of comprehensive, substantive, effective, and sustainable cooperation, contributing to the continued development of both nations.

Ambassador Rogelio Polanco Fuentes expressed his hope that through this visit, ties between the Center of Cuban Workers and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor would grow stronger and more dynamic. He emphasized that this cooperation would not only benefit workers in both countries but also contribute to strengthening international solidarity.

Later in the afternoon, the Cuban delegation and Quang Tri provincial leaders laid flowers at Fidel Park and visited the Historical Site of the Headquarters of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam as well as the Hien Luong - Ben Hai Special National Historical Site.
