The Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee, Hoang Nam, has approved the implementation of the project “Ensuring Irrigation Water Supply and Improving Farmers' Livelihoods in Hai Lang District,” funded by World Vision International (WVI). The project, with a total non-refundable grant of $25,000, is aimed at improving access to irrigation systems in rural areas, ensuring a stable water supply for agricultural production, and enhancing income opportunities for local farmers.
The project will be carried out in Hai Truong, Hai Dinh, and Hai Hung communes, with an expected completion date of March 31, 2025. To support its implementation, local communities will contribute labor and available materials. The planned activities include the construction of an irrigation canal for Cau Nuoc Ha fields in My Truong Hamlet and another for Ha Suy fields in Trung Truong Hamlet, both in Hai Truong Commune. Additionally, the Ha Rooc irrigation canal in Trung Don Hamlet and the Thien Tay 2 pumping station in Hai Dinh Commune will be upgraded. The project also involves the installation of drainage systems in Tra Loc Hamlet and Tra Tri Phu Hamlet, both in Hai Hung Commune, to improve water flow and agricultural conditions.
The Hai Lang District People’s Committee is responsible for overseeing project implementation and ensuring compliance with legal regulations and approved objectives. The committee will coordinate closely with WVI and relevant agencies to manage project execution in accordance with established guidelines. All activities must be conducted in alignment with regulatory frameworks and the funding agreement.
By improving irrigation infrastructure in these key agricultural areas, the project is expected to support local farming communities by facilitating better access to water resources. With enhanced irrigation systems, farmers will benefit from more reliable agricultural conditions, contributing to improved productivity and livelihoods in Hai Lang District.
