With a long, beautiful coastline, natural scenery, and diverse ecosystem, Cua Tung and Cua Viet beaches and Con Co Island have all it takes to become an attractive marine tourism triangle.
Quang Tri Province is located on the frontline of the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) and at the end of National Route No.9, and its Cua Viet Port holds a vital position to drive the socio-economic growth of the province and the whole region.
With natural landscapes, a beautiful coastline, and clear water, local authorities have made infrastructure upgrades to attract domestic and international visitors.

Cua Viet and Cua Tung beaches are well connected with the trans-Asia road that runs through Dong Ha City to Cua Viet Port, giving the local areas an opportunity for EWEC integration.
Located 15-17 knots from the two beaches, Con Co Island is now one of the prominent destinations in Quang Tri Province. It is home to a rich flora and fauna, a diverse marine ecosystem, a fresh environment, and a wilderness.
Con Co Island has experienced positive improvements in local tourism and an increasing number of visitors thanks to smooth transportation and better quality products and services.
To meet the rising demand of visitors, there are now a sufficient amount of motels, homestays, restaurants, and entertainment facilities on the island.
The triangle of Cua Tung and Cua Viet beaches and Con Co Island is also located near national relics such as Vinh Moc tunnels and Hien Luong – Ben Hai riverbanks. It joins important roads from the North to the South, and links Vietnam to neighboring countries through the EWEC and La Lay and Lao Bao international border gates.
These factors give the triangle an important role in connecting regional areas to promote various types of tourism. Quang Tri has implemented many preferential policies to attract investors and resources to develop marine tourism, trade and services. Infrastructures, especially the inter-region connecting transportation system, are invested, and tourism and resort projects are deployed and operated.
Apart from those achievements, the development of the marine triangle has yet to reach its full potential. There needs to be more tourism infrastructure as many projects make little progress, and there is little chance they are completed on schedule. It remains difficult to mobilize resources and link tours in the triangle with areas in the region.

At the provincial Party Committee’s 17th Congress in October 2020, Quang Tri addressed tourism as a key economic sector, in which the triangle plays a crucial role. Therefore, the provincial Party Committee needs to give directions for tourism developments.
Provincial and local governments must promote the image of their tourist sites and create good and equal conditions for all investors to partake in infrastructure projects, thus improving the quality of travel products and services.
In addition, local authorities should enhance the management and administration of tourism projects associated with long-term planning and promotion strategies and select the right investors and projects to boost local tourism, products, and services.
At the same time, they need to have supplementary tourism products, improve the professional skills of tourist agents and employees, and raise public awareness and responsibility about building a civilized lifestyle and protecting the environment and public security.
