Three traditional festivals in Quang Tri gain national heritage status

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has officially recognized three traditional festivals in Quang Tri Province as national intangible cultural heritage.

The newly recognized events include the Kim Phong Pagoda - Than Dinh Mountain Festival in Truong Son Commune, the Khai Ha Festival of Tuong Son Village in Ba Don Ward, and the boat racing festival on the Gianh River.

These long-standing cultural practices reflect the rich traditions and spiritual life of local communities across different regions of the province.

With the latest additions, Quang Tri now has 18 elements on the national list of intangible cultural heritage, alongside two elements previously recognized by UNESCO as representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The recognition is expected to bolster local efforts and attract resources for cultural preservation. It also enhances Quang Tri’s ability to incorporate its heritage into sustainable tourism development strategies.
