Under the province’s plan, the festival will be held at the special National Monument Hien Luong - Ben Hai to mark the 70th year the Hien Luong Bridge on the Ben Hai River was bisected between the South and North of Vietnam in the war against American troops (1954-1975).

The festival will be kicked-off with a colorful art performance and a low-attitude firework show, conveying the message of desire for peace and readiness for integration of the people of Quang Tri Province and Vietnam in general.

The festival will also feature a wide range of activities, aiming to foster Quang Tri tourism, including the “Peace Melodies” art performance at the provincial Cultural and Cinema Center on July 8; the “Tastes of the sunny and windy region” gathered around 100 culinary demonstrations, including 20% international booths; and the International Kite Art Exchange Program on July 9-10 at Cua Viet Tourism Service Area.

Particularly, the ceremony titled “Desire for Peacefulness” to release lanterns and candles will take place on July 26 on the shore of Thach Han River and special national relic of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel.

At the lantern ceremony, many activities to pay tribute to heroes and martyrs will also be held at all cemeteries, memorials, and churches in the province.

On this occasion, many cultural activities will also be held in different localities across the province to spread the traditional cultural features.

Before the event, “Cycling for Peace” will take place on July 4-5, expecting to attract about 500-1,000 professional and amateur cyclists.

The funding for the festival is allocated from the central and provincial budget as well as other sources.
