Quang Tri to host a series of tourism festivals in 2024

Quang Tri is preparing for the Festival for Peace in 2024, one of the most exciting events, to boost local tourism.

The province also plans to organize many other important event such as: the 70th anniversary of Vinh Linh (August 25, 1954-2024), the 35th anniversary of the reestablishment of Quang Tri province (July 1, 1989-2024) among others.

Following a government resolution that promotes nature-based tourism, the local government focuses on effective and sustainable tourism development suitable to local characteristics.

Emphasizing the key task in 2024, Nguyen Duc Tan, Director of the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, said the center will encourage investors to launch new tours across Quang Tri, including Khe Sanh coffee tour.

Local agencies also develop key tourist areas in the province and gradually build national tourist areas, such as Cua Viet, Cua Tung, Vinh Moc Tunnels, Hien Luong Banks, and Con Co Island. To create a breakthrough in tourism, Tan underscored the need to maximize the local strengths to be in line with sustainable development.

In this regard, Quang Tri tourism should be developed with some main themes such as: “Memories of war - Desire for peace”, “the East - West Economic Corridor”, “Central Heritage Road”, “Legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail”. At the same time, it’s necessary to promote the province’s key tourism products like relic tourism; island tourism; cultural - spiritual tourism....In the coming time, the province needs to implement the National Action Program on green tourism for the period 2023 - 2025, aiming to protect the natural environment at key tourist destinations.

Agencies need to support businesses in opening tours to many destinations in Quang Tri, and encourage the establishment and development of international and domestic travel agents.

The province continues to mobilize investment for infrastructure while developing the sea tourism triangleCua Viet - Cua Tung - Con Co island. In addition, local authorities need to recover and upgrade long-standing historical relics, such as: Hien Luong - Ben Hai banks, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, Vinh Moc Tunnel, Ta Con Airport, ...Agencies need to strengthen cooperation with the private sector to effectively exploit cultural heritage, combining economic development and ecosystem conservation. To create more entertainment services, Quang Tri needs to build many shopping centers, entertainment places, and high-end resorts with a focus on the Dong Ha Market Commercial Complex near Hieu River.

Quang Tri needs to coordinate with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, five neighboring central provinces, countries of the East - West Economic Corridor and many stakeholders to boost tourism.
