Quang Tri’s Department of Information and Communications on November 16 held a meeting with Savannakhet Province’s Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism to discuss cooperation in information and technology. The meeting is part of the implementation of the trade, investment, tourism, labor, and communication cooperation between Quang Tri (Vietnam), Savannakhet (Laos), and Mukdahan (Thailand) for 2022-2024. During the meeting, the two parties shared information regarding their respective media, press, and publishing activities while evaluating the outcomes of the media cooperation agreements implemented in recent years. In alignment with the minutes on trade, investment, tourism, labor, and communication cooperation among the three provinces of Quang Tri, Savannakhet, and Mukdahan, held in Dong Ha City, Quang Tri, from June 23 - 25, 2022, Quang Tri and Savannakhet engaged in positive activities, fostering conditions to enhance cooperative relationships, especially in the field of communication. |

The provinces committed to regularly providing each other with essential content related to communication, reinforcing collaboration, exchanging information on international situations, and potential advantages in trade and tourism development. Director of the Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism of Savannakhet Province Phulsisoi Kutilath expressed his hope that, based on the cooperation agreements, the provinces would continue to collaborate closely in communication, supporting each other’s development. Additionally, they aim to utilize media cooperation to promote tourism development in both provinces.

Deputy Director of Quang Tri Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Hoan emphasized the significance of the media in advancing economic and tourism development. “Following the signing of the cooperation memorandum, both sides swiftly deployed and specified the content, aiming to increase media products broadcast on both sides,” Hoan said. Based on the discussions, the two sides reached agreements on future cooperation, including reinforcing communication, promotion, and introducing each province’s history, culture, and people. This also involves disseminating information about guidelines, policies, potentials, and advantages to attract investment and showcasing the friendly relationship and cooperation between the two provinces.

The agreed-upon plan includes compiling publications and television reports to broadcast policies and guidelines of each country, promoting the land, people, potential, and advantages of both provinces, and highlighting the friendly and cooperative relationship in Vietnamese, English, and Lao languages through journalistic works produced by both sides in various formats such as text, still images, animations, graphics, and audio (two works per month per unit).

Simultaneously, both sides agreed to boost communication activities across information and communication agencies, encompassing radio, television, newspapers, and online media. Initiatives such as exchanging articles, information, documents, and experiences within the media domain will be organized to deepen understanding of the country, people, culture, and history of each province. This endeavor aims to fortify collaboration in media information, sharing details about the activities of both countries on television channels, thereby establishing a close informational link between the nations. It serves as an opportunity for journalists to learn, exchange, and enhance their media knowledge to better serve journalistic activities.

During this occasion, leaders from the Quang Tri Department of Information and Communications, Quang Tri Newspaper, and Provincial Radio and Television Station presented friendship gifts to the Savannakhet Province’s Department of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Savanh Phathana Newspaper, and Savannakhet Provincial Television.
Quang Tri Newspaper also presented Savanh Phathana Newspaper with several special publications released by Quang Tri Newspaper in recent times.

As part of their program in Laos, the Quang Tri Province delegation visited Savanh Phathana Newspaper and Savannakhet Provincial Radio and Television Station. They also explored scenic relics in Savannakhet Province, including That Inghang, the Dinosaur Museum, and Kaysone Phomvihane Park.
