Hoang Nam, for his part, acknowledged VFP’s efforts in reconciliation and normalization of the relations through specific and substantive activities over the years.

Regarding the success of the Festival for Peace held in Quang Tri in July 2024, Hoang Nam said that the festival symbolized friendship and solidarity, reflecting the peace-loving spirit of Quang Tri’s people in particular and the Vietnamese nation as a whole.

As 2025 approaches, marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, Deputy Chairman Hoang Nam voiced his hope that veterans from both nations would take a key role in reinforcing a long-lasting cooperative partnership, contributing to a brighter shared future as the two countries continue to progress.

For the past 25 years, Chuck Searcy has frequently traveled between Hanoi and Quang Tri, dedicated to projects focused on clearing unexploded ordnance (UXO) and addressing the effects of Agent Orange. His efforts extend beyond these tangible tasks, as his itinerary includes countless seminars, workshops, and visits. Chuck has played a vital role in reconnecting American veterans with Vietnam, leading groups of his fellow countrymen on tours of historical sites, and giving talks to students in both the U.S. and Vietnam. His boundless energy and busy schedule are truly remarkable.

Chuck has become so well-known to the people of Quang Tri that they regard him as part of their community. He has also vowed to encourage American veterans to visit Quang Tri, allowing them to experience and help spread the shared desire for peace.
