Quang Tri joins more than 40 cities and provinces across Vietnam to celebrate the 10th International Yoga Day (June 21) with a series of exciting performances held on June 28 at Liberation Square in Quang Tri township of the central province of the same name.
Co-organized by the provincial People’s Committee and the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, the event marked the participation of the First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, RachnaSrivastav, representatives of various relevant agencies of Quang Tri, and nearly 1,000 yoga trainers and students from Yoga clubs inside and outside the province.
Speaking at the event, First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Vietnam Rachna Srivastav underscored the importance of Yoga to human life.

She said the Indian Embassy organized International Yoga Day events in 35 provinces and cities of Vietnam this year, including Quang Tri. She appreciated the attention of local authorities and Yoga lovers.
"I am grateful to all of you for your enthusiasm and solidarity. I wish you all peace and harmony from within, good health, and lots of happiness when practicing Yoga," said Rachna Srivastav.The highlight of this event was the performance of nearly 1,000 trainers and students from Yoga clubs inside and outside the province. In particular, the Yoga performance in the background of the song “Quang Tri Desire” made a strong impression on the audience.

According to the Director of the Provincial Department of Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Trieu Thuong, Quang Tri has received active support from Indian friends and the Indian Embassy.This is the second time the People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province has coordinated with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam to organize an event to celebrate International Yoga Day.

Under the theme “For yourself and society”, this year’s event becomes even more meaningful as it coincides with the 52nd anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and India.

"Through this event, we want to help people understand more about the meaning and benefits of practicing Yoga, motivating people to participate in outdoor activities, and helping improve physical and mental health. We also want to promote the relationship between Quang Tri and India," Nguyen Trieu Thuong shared.
At the event, delegates and Yoga lovers participated in cultural activities, including offering incense and flowers at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel and releasing flowers on the Thach Han River.The program’s organizing committee awarded 10 gifts to needy families in Quang Tri township.
Born more than 5,000 years ago in India, Yoga is a method that helps people improve physical and mental health. It also contributes to strengthening the connection and solidarity between people, motivating them towards noble goals and ideals of life.
Yoga has spread to many countries around the world, including Vietnam. Recognizing the meaning and importance of Yoga, the United Nations General Assembly chose June 21 every year as International Yoga Day.
