International non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have cashed out some US$17.2 million for 94 programs in central coastal Quang Tri Province, the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs has announced.
Thirty-six of all 94 projects were newly raised in 2023, with total committed capital of more than $15.2 million.

There are now 33 active foreign NGOs and international organizations in the province, providing aids in the likes of social protection, climate change, environmental protection, scholarship, healthcare, neutralizing the effects of war, disabled people assistance, rural development, disease prevention, and training and education.
Their activities have greatly contributed to promoting the socio-economic development of the local areas where the projects are based.
Quang Tri Province is among the best-performing localities in drawing funding from international NGOs. From 2020 to the end of June 2023, the province lured 187 international projects with total disbursed capital of nearly $88 million.
The figures were up 43% in value and 52% in number compared to the same previous three-year term. In 2020, the capital reached the highest level of $55 million.
The funding from international NGOs now accounts for 2.24% of the province’s total socio-economic growth capital, and 13.1% of its total budget income.
Programs, projects implemented by foreign NGO in 2023 generally achieve positive results. As a province facing many difficulties and having limited budget revenues, non-refundable aid capital from NGOs plays an important role in local socio-economics development goal.
