Quang Tri delegation attends regional investment forum in Laos

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Pakse and Sekong provincial authorities jointly hosted the annual regional promotion event from May 23 to 25, aimed at strengthening economic, trade, investment, and tourism cooperation among localities in Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

A delegation from the central province of Quang Tri attended the regional forum in Sekong, Laos, from May 23 to 25, as part of the province’s 2025 Investment Promotion Program.This forum aims to strengthen economic, trade, investment, and tourism cooperation among localities across Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, with Sekong Province serving as the host this year.The event drew leaders from four southern Lao provinces, including Champasak, Salavan, Sekong, and Attapeu, and one Thai province, Ubon Ratchathani. Representatives from 18 Vietnamese provinces and cities with existing cooperative ties to southern Laos also participated.

Among the participants, the central city of Danang, central provinces Quang Tri and Quang Nam, Central Highlands provinces Kon Tum and Dak Lak, and southeastern province Binh Phuoc attended in person, while twelve other localities joined virtually. The forum also featured the participation from the Vietnam Business Association in Japan and southern Laos, alongside business delegates from Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand, enriching the discussions.

The forum served as a vital platform for local authorities and enterprises to explore investment opportunities, particularly in Sekong, and to develop cooperation programs tailored to their strengths. It played a significant role in driving economic and social development along the East-West Economic Corridor.Throughout the forum, officials and business leaders delivered presentations highlighting potential areas for collaboration and outlining strategic plans for expanding trade, investment, and tourism. These exchanges laid the groundwork for practical and mutually beneficial partnerships.As part of the forum, the 2025 Trade and Tourism Fair officially opened on May 23, featuring 47 booths, including 12 from Vietnam, 34 from Laos, and one from Thailand. Quang Tri’s booth, showcasing local specialties and OCOP-certified products, drew significant attention and collaboration proposals from Lao and Thai businesses and investors.Quang Tri’s participation in the forum and trade fair highlights its dedication to strengthening the enduring Vietnam-Laos friendship and deepening cooperation with Sekong Province amid a new phase of development.
