The Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration (under the Ministry of Construction) has officially announced the opening of Berth No. 4 at the Northern Cua Viet Port Area in Quang Tri Province.

The berth is located in Cua Viet Town, Gio Linh District. It is designed as a protruding pier, 70 meters in length. The designed water depth in front of the berth is -2.3 meters (nautical chart datum). At the time of announcement, the actual depth in front of the berth was -1.1 meters, and the depth of the connecting water area was -2.1 meters. The berth is capable of accommodating passenger vessels with a capacity of up to 200 passengers or vessels with specifications that align with its design capacity.
The Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration has assigned the Thua Thien Hue Port Authority to manage state maritime affairs at the berth and collect applicable fees in accordance with legal regulations.
The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Quang Tri Province will specify the operational conditions and oversee the management and operation of the berth in line with its intended purpose. This includes ensuring maritime safety and security, fire prevention and control, and environmental protection. The department is also responsible for organizing dredging activities to ensure the connecting water area and the water in front of the berth meet the designed depth. During operations, vessel movements will be coordinated with the Thua Thien Hue Port Authority based on maritime depth notifications to ensure safe docking and departure.
According to Ho Van Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, this is Quang Tri Province’s first dedicated tourism port. The Provincial People’s Committee has assigned the administration, management, and operation of Cua Viet Tourism Port to the People’s Committee of Con Co Island District.
Cua Viet Tourism Port is a key component of the second phase of the Greater Mekong Subregion Inclusive Tourism Infrastructure Development Project, specifically the Quang Tri subproject. It plays an important role in providing infrastructure to support marine and island tourism routes, especially those connecting to Con Co Island.
