Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee Le Duc Tien has requested funding for the Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway and National Highway 15D.
In a document sent to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh early this month, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee Le Duc Tien stressed the need to accelerate key infrastructure projects. These include Quang Tri Airport, My Thuy Port, the coastal road linking the East-West Economic Corridor, and the Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway. The goal is to boost economic growth and attract investment.

The Cam Lo - Lao Bao Expressway spans 56 km and follows a public-private partnership (PPP) model. It requires an estimated VND 13.939 trillion (about US$ 552 million). Of this, VND9.5trillion (US$371.2 million) is expected from the state, while private investors contribute the rest. The ministries of Finance and Construction have confirmed the project’s feasibility. Quang Tri has asked the central government to allocate funds from the 2026-2030 budget.Quang Tri also seeks VND1.600 trillion (US$63 million) from the 2024 budget surplus to start a 22 km section of National Highway 15D. This road will link My Thuy Port to the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway. The province has also requested VND3.009 trillion (US$119 million) for two additional segments: 34 km under the PPP model and 12 km funded by public investment. These sections will extend to the La Lay International Border Gate. The expressway and highway are key East-West transport links. They will enhance connectivity with Laos and Thailand and strengthen regional trade. Timely funding will drive economic growth and cross-border commerce.
