As part of the event, the Quang Tri delegation held a meeting with Gazprom International Limited, in which Manageing Director Tumanov Sergey briefed updates on the project implementation, particularly highlighting the difficulties and obstacles facing the group. He also proposed solutions and suggested incentive policies and support measures to continue promoting project activities in the near future. He emphasized the need for collaborative support from multiple levels, particularly the crucial role of the governments of Vietnam and Russia in further strengthening cooperation.

The Quang Tri delegation expressed their gratitude for the time General Director Tumanov and key members of Gazprom International devoted to their meeting. They valued the insights shared by experts and businesses concerning the future development of the oil and gas sector and its potential collaboration with Quang Tri Province.

On March 25, 2020, the Prime Minister issued document No. 368/TTg-CN, assigning Gazprom International, a subsidiary of the Gazprom Group (Russia), as the investor for the Quang Tri 340MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant project under the BOT model.

This project is considered a key initiative that will help Quang Tri Province achieve its goal of becoming a regional energy hub in Central Vietnam and will enhance the strategic and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

The project is behind schedule compared to commitments due to various objective and subjective factors. In light of its local responsibilities, Quang Tri Province has actively implemented tasks and activities related to planning, constructing access roads, connecting power grids, and developing a land clearance plan.
