Quang Tri and Eni Vietnam discuss future collaborative projects

A delegation from the central province of Quang Tri, headed by Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Vo Van Hung, met with Eni Vietnam on October 3 in Ho Chi Minh City.

This engagement is part of the province’s investment promotion program for 2024.

During the meeting, Giacomo Spadini, Managing Director of Eni Vietnam, provided updates on the company’s business development, recent offshore exploration, and production collaborations.

He also outlined plans for energy transition initiatives, clean cooking solutions for communities, and sustainable forestry development in Quang Tri.

The Managing Director requested that the province expedite the necessary procedures to sign an extension of the memorandum of understanding, enabling prompt implementation of their projects.

In his remarks, Chairman Vo Van Hung shared insights into the province’s socio-economic development, highlighting key directions and the progress of important infrastructure projects that facilitate collaboration with Eni Vietnam. These include the My Thuy port project, Quang Tri airport, coastal roads connecting the East-West Economic Corridor, and National Highway 15D.

The Chairman urged Eni Vietnam to continue working with the province on promoting sustainable forest use and enhancing forest carbon stocks.

He also called for support in developing livelihood models for communities near forests, particularly focusing on cultivating medicinal plants under natural canopies to preserve biodiversity and benefit local residents.

Hung encouraged Eni Vietnam to formulate plans for expanding the scope of their memorandum to include initiatives on energy crops and utilizing agricultural, industrial, and forestry by-products for bio-refinery plants.

The two sides agreed to proceed with the extension of the cooperation memorandum and discuss future collaborative programs.
