The Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee on October 22 approved the project document for “Enhancing Community Climate Change Resilience,” which is funded by Plan International.
The project aims to strengthen climate change resilience among vulnerable groups in Quang Tri province, which is frequently affected by natural disasters. It will also enhance the capacity of local authorities to prevent disaster risks and respond to the impacts of climate change.

The project will be implemented in Vinh Son and Vinh Long communes in Vinh Linh District, Mo O and Huong Hiep communes in Dakrong District, and Huc and Thuan communes in Huong Hoa District. It will run from 2024 to 2027, with a total budget of VND6.98 billion (US$291,000).The main outcomes of the project include enhancing the community’s resilience to the risks posed by climate change-related natural disasters through gender-responsive and inclusive disaster risk management planning.Additionally, the project aims to create favorable conditions for climate change response activities that actively involve youth, while implementing disaster prevention planning tools at both the commune and district levels.The Quang Tri Provincial Red Cross has been assigned the responsibility of managing and implementing the project under this decision.
